Digital printing tends to be a more viable option where you want a small quantity offering particularly impressive savings on colour work, since set-up is low, but there are no economies of scale available (no matter how many prints/copies are made the charge per print remains the same). Digital printing also can't offer as high a quality of reproduction or consistency as lithographic printing, and there are restrictions on the material that can be printed on.  We can't use very high gloss paper, or very thick card. 

Lithographic printing tends to be a more viable option on larger quantities, since all the expense is in the initial set-up, but there are large economies of scale available (the more prints/copies you have the cheaper they become). Quality is consistent and there are less restrictions on printing material.

Printshare is an innovative scheme run by SBS, which offers the best of both worlds.  Lithographic printing and quantities at a Digital price. The only negative is that you cannot dictate the timescale. more info

Artwork The following charges exclude artwork production fees (minimum £15.00 please see design). No such fee will be charged where genuine artwork is supplied. Please note that the term 'artwork' refers to original copy for the purpose of reproduction. In the case of physical 'artwork' responsibility cannot be accepted for the quality of image provided, and in the case of digital 'artwork', the file must be of an accepted format only, such as adobe in design, quark or pdf. We cannot accept files of non-specific graphic software types such as word, excel, powerpoint, publisher, unless a disclaimer is signed, accepting responsibility for possible post-script irregularities which might occur. In layman's terms, the common visual anomolies which might arise when viewing a file using one pc from another, including font substitution, margin settings, line-breaks etc.
